The first mural I ever completed with spray paint was the “GUAM” mural at Guam Seawalker Tours office. Seawalker is a great tour that allows you to walk underwater along the coral life that is surrounded by hundreds of fish. This mural was created to attract tourists driving through the village of Piti to come in the Seawalker Tours office. I decided to fill in the letters of GUAM with recognizable sea animals such as a dolphin, sea turtle, trigger fish and mahi-mahi.
Second mural is the one for the village of Piti. PITI is a village on Guam that is derived from the CHamoru word “puti” which means to hurt or ache, but contrary to its origin meaning, this was the mural that helped jumpstart my (very struggling) early years as a professional artist. This mural was done in request of Piti Mayor Jesse Alig’s initiative to improve the village and sponsored by Guam Seawalker Tours. I designed the mural to reflect Guam-centric icons such as the King fisher, carabao and Latte stone within the word “PITI”.
